Russian Market (Phsar Toul Tom Poung) Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh’s shopping scene is quickly evolving. Several new malls have gone
up in recent years, most recently AEON Mall, the city’s new ultra-modern shopping
destination hosting dozens of shops, restaurants, a theater, ice skating and more.
But for more traditional souvenirs, art, silks and handicrafts, Phnom Penh still offers a
wide range of shopping opportunities, from traditional markets to chic boutiques.

Classic Cambodian souvenirs include fine hand-loomed silks, Angkorian and Buddhist
themed carvings, statues, hand-pounded silverwork, handicrafts, and of course, the
most traditional of all Cambodian souvenirs, the krama -- a checkered scarf unique to
the Khmer people and tourists. The Russian Market and Central Market offer a unique
local experience and excellent selections of traditional souvenirs, somewhat deeper
and more varied for the real market explorer than Siem Reap markets. If you're looking
for more contemporary shopping, there are also boutique shops offering unique
Cambodian-made fashions, accessories and gifts.

Russian Market
Phsar Toul Tom Poung :
Of the all traditional markets in Phnom Penh, the Russian Market offers the best selection of souvenirs, curios and other items of interest to the visitor. The south side is the place to begin, lined inside and out with carvings, handicrafts, silks, fabrics, curios and the largest selection of DVDs in town. There are also several
fabric vendors making it a good place to shop for the tailor. Check out the local food stalls near the center of the market.
