Health / Vaccines for Cambodia
No vaccinations are required to go to Cambodia for travellers from Europe but some are recommended, especially we recommend for traveller who have their long stay or trip in Cambodia. However if you made a prior residence in countries of Africa or America infected with yellow fever vaccination against yellow fever is mandatory.
Anyway, before leaving, ask your doctor. Ideally at least 2 months before departure to allow time to potential vaccines and boosters. The items below are for draws information and can not replace a visit to the doctor or the health center and international vaccinations in your area.
For more information on health issues, you can also go to: sante-voyages.com, sante.gouv.fr, travelsante.com, diplomatie.gouv.fr

With the exception of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, the health infrastructure in Cambodia are few and often rudimentary. In case you have any problem with your health in Cambodia, to the extent possible, go to Calmette Hospital or at the Pasteur Institute in Phnom Penh and feel free to leave Bangkok has the best hospitals in the region.

diseases
Malaria, if the disease transmitted by mosquito bites is absent from the cities, it is very present in rural areas, particularly in Angkor. And like any visit Cambodia must go through the temples of Angkor, it is highly advisable to ask your doctor or immunization clinic to prescribe antimalarial treatment before departure.
Generally, mosquitoes are a potential source of infections and diseases therefore protect yourself against eux.Portez long clothing and rather light in color and use effective repellents (citronella spray to be ineffective).

Dengue fever, also transmitted usually by mosquitoes (the day mainly), it presents almost the same symptoms as the flu (fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, rash) but increasingly violent including a high fever. There is no vaccine and no treatment (although the latest Sanofi would have made much progress in developing a vaccine but it is not yet on the market). In very rare cases, it can progress to hemorrhagic form, the use of anticoagulants such as aspirin is not recommended. It will block you in bed for 2-7 days. The risk of contagion is higher during the monsoon season.
Wear long clothing and rather light in color and use effective repellents (citronella spray to be ineffective).
AIDS is very present in Cambodia and sexually transmitted diseases, hepatitis B in mind, too. Consider starting with condoms and avoid making you get tattoos or piercings.

Precautions to take
Do not drink tap water. It is imperative never to drink tap water in Cambodia. Always buy bottled water, checking that they are well sealed. Better also avoid eating raw fruits and vegetables without peeling them (avoid fruits and vegetables already peeled, nothing says they have not had washed in running water after being peeled). It is recommended to drink at least 2 liters of water (bottled) per day.

Protect yourself against the moutiques that present a risk of contamination to more or less annoying diseases (dengue and malaria in particular). Dress long (sleeves and pants, ankle protection), evening and use repellents.
Choose Your restaurants. Choose Your restaurants. Food can also be a vector for other diseases as hepatitis A or turista. A little crowded, dirty establishment is avoided. Concerning meat and fish, make sure they are well cooked. If this is not the case, do not use them and ask that they are annealed. No need to be paranoid either, there are small local restaurants where you can eat well without risk to your health.

Beware of stray dogs often carry rabies.
Avoid swimming in lakes or ponds .. This may expose you to several diseases like bilharzia, leptospirosis and other diarrheal diseases.
Take the medications you need. Take the medicines you need and avoid buying in Cambodian pharmacies offer many counterfeit drugs. If you must buy medicines locally, go absolutely in Type A. These pharmacies are required by real qualified pharmacists when type B pharmacies are required by vendors without any pharmacist training and often offer counterfeit drugs which can be more or less dangerous.
