Angkor ticket - temple pass

Angkor Ticket Pass

What is it?

Except for Cambodian citizens, all foreigners visiting the Angkor Archeological Park must purchase the ticket.

Where and how do we purchase it?

There are two different ways in which you can purchase the ticket, by online or by buying it directly at the ticket booth.

First of all, I will describe the process of how to buy it online. In order to purchase the tickets online, you must enter the Angkor Enterprise website. After that, you will see two buttons at the top right corner which say “Buy Tickets” and “Special Pass”. You will then select on the “Buy Tickets” button. The website will then ask you to login with your email or your Facebook account. The website will load two options for you to choose whether you want to buy tickets for visiting the Angkor World Heritage or for visiting Koh Ker Temple. You must click on the first option since you’re visiting the Angkor Archeological Park.  You can purchase the ticket for 1 day which costs $37, 3 days which costs $62, or 7 days which costs $72. The website will also show you a calendar and you must select the date of your entry. You will click the next sign and they will ask you to fill in your information such as gender, group age, and nationality. You also have to upload a photo of yourself. You can either select a photo from your galleries or take a quick shot of yourself right now. Be sure to upload a photo that is clear enough and also crop it so that it shows your full face in the square. The next step is you have to submit all of that information and the website will bring you to the payment section. You can pay by using your credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, Union Pay, JCB) or by ABA bank. When the payment has been settled, there will be an email sent to you with an attached file of your tickets. You must have your tickets printed out before visiting the Angkor Archeological Park to avoid any technical issues that may come with mobile ticketing: batteries dying, Wi-Fi failing, running out of data, and accidentally cracking your screen.

The other option is to purchase tickets directly at the ticket booth. It’s located on the corner of Road 60 and the Apsara Road. The office opens from 5:00 AM till 5:30 PM every single day. There are no factors that will affect the opening time of the office. Once you reached the ticket booth, you will be asked by the operators about how many days are you purchasing the tickets for.  They will then take a photo of you which will be printed on a paper. You can pay by cash (including Khmer Riel, US Dollars, Euros and Thai Baht) or by credit card (including Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay, JCB, Discover and Diners Club cards). There are also many ATM at the site in which you can withdraw money as well.

Where and when can we use the Angkor Ticket Pass?

You can use the tickets for all the temples inside the Angkor Park, Rolous Group, Wat Athvea, and Phnom Krom. The opening time of most temples are from 7:30 AM till 5:30 PM. However, temples such as Angkor Wat and Srah Srang are open from 5:00 AM for sunrise and temples such as Phnom Bakheng and Pre Rup are open till 7:30 PM for sunset.

When is it necessary to buy tickets online?

Although it’s a very complicated procedure, buying tickets online is very helpful if you’re planning to go on a sunrise tour. Most foreigners would have to start traveling at around 4:30 AM from their location to the ticket booth. However, they still have to wait in a very long line until they can purchase the tickets. This would be very frustrating for you if you are not patience enough since there are lots of people there at that time. Therefore, if you have your tickets purchased online and printed out already, you can travel to the temples at 5:00 AM and let the operators check your tickets, and then you’re free to set off on the tour. Although it’s just a 30 minutes difference, it’s worth the effort sometimes.

Tickets Validation

1 Day ticket ($37) – Valid for only one day

3 Days ticket ($62) – Valid for any three days during a ten-days period which starts from the date of your first visit

7 Days ticket ($72) – Valid for any seven days during a one-month period which starts from the date of your first visit

Notes

Children under 12 years old don’t require a ticket, but you must carry passports with you to verify your child’s age.

You must keep your tickets with you all the time because if you are found in the temples with no ticket or with a fraudulent ticket, you will be fined approximately $100 to $300 depending on whether you have a 1-day, 3-day or 7-day pass.

All tickets are non-transferrable and there are no refunds, if you lose it, you must purchase another one.

You can only purchase tickets from Angkor Enterprise website online or buy them from Angkor Ticket Office. If you purchase them elsewhere, they are not valid for use.

You cannot use these tickets to visit Phnom Kulen, Bung Melea, or Koh Ker. You must purchase a separate ticket which costs $5, $10, or $20 correspondingly.
